Exhibition “Pompeii’s Last Days” for Layers of Reality

Los últimos días de Pompeya: exposición con cajas de luz.

The immersive exhibition “The Last Days of Pompeii” recreated with great fidelity one of the most striking episodes in ancient history: the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD and the catastrophe that buried under ashes one of the most prosperous cities of the Roman Empire. To accompany this cultural proposal, a series of panoramic light boxes were designed and manufactured that formed part of the exhibition set-up, providing visual depth and an enveloping atmosphere that reinforced the historical narrative of the exhibition.

The development of the project involved the manufacture of displays with a modular aluminum profile system, lightweight, resistant and quick assembly. This structure made it possible to adapt precisely to the dimensions and specific requirements of the exhibition space, facilitating both installation and disassembly without compromising the solidity of the whole. The versatility of the system was key to meet the demands of such an exhibition, where each element had to be precisely integrated into a carefully designed environment.

The lighting of the displays was solved by energy-efficient LED technology, which ensured a homogeneous light distribution over the entire surface of the light boxes. This system significantly reduced electricity consumption during the exhibition period and minimized maintenance requirements, two key factors in long-life installations.

The printing was done on recycled fabrics of sustainable origin, a choice that combined environmental commitment with outstanding technical performance. The print quality achieved an exceptional resolution and color fidelity, able to reproduce in detail the textures, shades and nuances typical of the historical and artistic images that composed the sample. The result was a high-impact visual experience that helped to immerse the visitor in the Pompeian tragedy.

Beyond its application in this particular project, the developed light box system proved to be a highly versatile and replicable solution. Its modular design in aluminum, combined with efficient LED lighting and printing on sustainable materials, makes it a competitive proposal for retail environments, trade fairs and exhibitions, corporate events, showcases or any space that requires large-format displays with guarantees of quality, durability and environmental responsibility.
